This blog represents recipes I’ve created over the past 30+ years when I started cooking with my late father. My father suffered from PTS from the Việt Nam War. Veterans from that era did not receive proper care upon returning stateside. Cooking can be therapeutic and so it was a way to help heal and to move forward. My father’s dream had been publishing a cookbook on the Internet when the Internet first started to become popular. Back in the early 1990s the Internet was quite a bit different than today and blogs today are rather prevalent. I hope to make this blog unique. Contained in this particular blog are the original recipes which I created while working on that project plus so many more that I have made since then. And so this blog is part documentary and part cookbook.
Cooks Like Me represents the dishes cooks like me enjoy making in small kitchens all over America. For those local to Connecticut, we provide our impressions of the locally owned restaurants, small eateries, bakeries and diners where we all love to grab good eats. So whether you eat out often or love the challenge of cooking a great meal at home, there is something here for everyone. We stick with the locals and support Connecticut’s local restaurant community. As many locals know, Connecticut has a rich and unique culinary tradition with many great places to grab a bite with friends and family. I hope everyone will enjoy reading this story as much as I do writing it.
With much love and thanks to my very special cooking partner: my lovely wife Jennifer who helped me name this blog. Jennifer is an awesome cook in her own right and a fantastically patient person. Many of her recipes grace these pages as well. Together we travel Connecticut eating out and making great food at home. Thanks for reading.
